Doors & Windows

You don’t always need to replace damaged doors and poorly fitting windows.

• Home owners are often surprised to know that new interior doors can be fitted to existing door jambs. Good fits are guaranteed.
• The Master Carpenter can make new window sashes for windows which have been discontinued. Or, if there is too much damage, we can replace with a new window sized to maximize the light you treasure.
• Tired of the winter wind creeping past your worn weatherstripping? Quite often doors can be serviced, bringing back most, or all, of their original protection. Add a new handleset and it’s almost like having a new door.

• Doors and windows which are not too heavily damaged can be stripped, repaired, and repainted. This is much cheaper than replacing whole units.

Exterior Trim

Before repainting you must fix damaged woodwork. What most people don’t know is that wood that has been exposed to weathering for too long will no longer hold paint.

• Replace badly puckered hardboard siding, especially at the bottom of a wall where it can be damaged by sprinklers and your hose hook-up.
• Water damaged gutter and soffit boards
• Replace damaged wood siding and trim.

Furniture Restoration

Many treasured pieces can be restored by a skilful woodworker. Not all furniture can, or should, be fixed but we can help you make a determination.

• The Master Carpenter pays attention to wood grain and species in its furniture repairs.
• Refinishing is an art. We can often bring a piece back from extreme damage. The final finishes can often be faithfully restored.
• We often run into the unexpected when restoring a piece. These “mystery woods and finishes” can usually be restored.
